Rosetta Genomics, Ltd. (NASDAQ: ROSG)
shares surged 32% to $4.80 after the molecular diagnostics company announced
that it had received a Notice of Allowance from the U.S. Patent and Trademark
Office for a patent claiming the use of the company’s miR-34a treatment for
cancers associated with the p53 gene. The company also said it had received its
first allowance from the European Patent Office for a patent claiming the
specific composition for miR-451.
As well,
shares of Capnia, Inc. (NASDAQ: CAPN)
shot up 37% to $2.43 after the life science company announced the first U.S.
commercial sales of its CoSense End-Tidal Carbon Monoxide (ETCO) Monitors and
single-use sampling sets to leading academic, research and healthcare
institutions. CoSense is a portable, non-invasive device that rapidly and
accurately measures carbon monoxide in exhaled breath.
Celsus Therapeutics Plc (NASDAQ: CLTX)
stock, meanwhile, plummeted 81% to $1.15 after the biotech company announced
the results of its failed dermatitis treatment in a mid-stage trial. Celsus
tested its MRX-6 cream 2% in a Phase II, double-blind study to evaluate
the safety and efficacy of the cream in a pediatric population with mild
to moderate atopic dermatitis. Data showed the cream did not show a difference
in mean change from baseline to Day 28.
