Junior Gold Miner Surges on Q1 Results: Today’s Canadian Small Cap Market Movers

Banro Corporation (TSX:
BAA
) shares powered 36% higher to $0.42 on volume of more than 3.8 million
Thursday after the Canadian gold miner operating in the Democratic
Republic of the Congo announced that its Q1 2015 revenue rose 35% to a record
$41 million, while it produced gold at all in sustaining costs of US$581 per
ounce for the period.

As well,
shares of BitGold Inc. (TSXV:
XAU
) continued to move higher Thursday, up 40% to $3.77. BitGold, a
development-stage Internet technology business that facilitates the buying and
selling of bullion-grade gold for customers using various electronic payment
methods, made its Toronto Venture exchange debut on Wednesday.

Minaean International Corp. (TSXV:
MIB
), meanwhile, reported that it has entered into a Memorandum of
Understanding with Shapoorji Pallonji International FZC, which includes a corporate
restructuring, a private placement, debt settlement and a 1 for 2 share
consolidation of the outstanding common shares of the Company, the result of
which will be that Shapoorji Pallonji will become the “Control Person” of the company.
Minaean stock moved up 88% to $0.075.

Finally,
Theralase Technologies Inc. (TSXV:
TLT
) shares jumped 38% to $0.42 after the biotechnology firm focused on
commercializing medical technologies to eliminate pain and destroy cancer said
it has discovered that its lead anti-cancer drug, TLD-1433, emits a fluorescent
signature when light activated in a Non-Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer animal
model. The company claims that this discovery, among other factors, can
determine if the cancer cells that have absorbed the drug have been destroyed.
