Energy Stock Powers Higher on Operations Update: Today’s Canadian Small Cap Market Movers

Crew Energy Inc. (TSX:
CR
) shares surged 11% to $5.73 on Friday after the Montney-focused oil and
natural gas producer announced that first-quarter production from its northeast
British Columbia areas rose 34% to 14,260 boe per day. The company also
said it achieved a 36% reduction in total cash costs per boe during the period.

As well,
shares of AutoCanada Inc. (TSX:
ACQ
) jumped 20% to $41.64 as the multi-location automobile dealership
group said it expects to be in a position to announce two acquisitions within
the next 45 days.

Golden Star Resources Ltd. (TSX:
GSC
), meanwhile, reported that it has secured $150 million in financing
from Royal Gold, Inc. to facilitate development of the Wassa and Prestea
underground mines in Ghana, West Africa, which are expected to be in production
by late 2016. Golden Star Resources stock moved up 16% to $0.32 following the announcement.
