It’s (thankfully) been a quieter week than what we saw the previous week, and I think we’re all looking forward to a 3-day weekend! Today on SmallCapPower we’re analyzing one Canadian health care stock that may see short-term price weakness as their private placement lockup expires. Also, we bring you more mining companies with a high degree of liquidity and look ahead to our interview with Peter Hodson next week – here’s what you need to know today:

I’m excited to share the news that SmallCapPower is launching a series of articles that examine Canadian stocks that could experience short-term stock price weakness due to the expiration of a private placement lockup. First up: Patient Home Monitoring (TSXV:PHM), which provides services to chronically ill patients. You may remember that Fabrice Taylor touched on PHM in his recent interview with SmallCapPower, and today our editor Sean Mason takes a much closer look at the challenges the stock has experienced since completing a $63.7 million private placement financing in early May 2015. With 45 million additional shares set to become free trading next week, Sean discusses whether the stock’s dive to $0.50 in August from a high of $2 a few months ago is the result of general market weakness or a poorly executed communications strategy from management. If you know of any stocks in which a large number of shares are about to become free trading and want the story to be told please email: sean@smallcappower.com.

It looks like Goldcorp is not the only cashed up mining stock in the market. Today on SmallCapPower we’re sharing with you another 5 mining stocks with a healthy stack of cash. The companies we’re looking at today have a high degree of liquidity, with cash and short term investments ranging anywhere between $60 million (Haynes International Inc.) and $700 million (Centerra Gold Inc.). It’s certainly a good sign for each company but if the natural resources environment continues to slump as expected, it may not be enough to boost share prices just yet.

Lastly, don’t forget to send me your questions for Peter Hodson, CEO of 5i Research Inc. whose focus is on small and mid cap stocks. He’ll be giving us some of his tips on investing in small caps and sharing his insights into the tough times in the market of late. For more information head to the 5i Research site, then let me know what you’d like to hear from Peter!
