So how was everyone’s Monday? I know, too soon. Today on Before the Bell we try to make sense of what happened to the TSX, the Dow, and every conceivable index around the globe. But with the bad comes the good: our experts talk about the massive potential in the Indian marketplace, and we look at one rare metal whose upside could reward savvy investors – here’s what you need to know today:

There’s not enough space to accurately describe the bloodbath that the global markets experienced yesterday, and I think we’re all just starting to recover from the panic that took hold. I’m certainly still trying to make sense of Monday’s massive selloff, so I’ve compiled a few quick hits from the experts: The Financial Post’s Joe Chidley on why “Black Monday” does NOT represent a buying opportunity; The Street’s Robert New analyzes whether yesterday represented a bull market correction or the beginning of a huge slide; and BNN’s Catherine Murray gives us a few reasons not to panic just yet.

With all the negative news flowing from China’s stock market recently it can be easy to overlook another major market that’s managed to outperform both US and Chinese indexes: India’s stock market has seen nearly 60% growth since 2012. Today on SmallCapPower our experts look at 4 Canadian stocks with Indian exposure. A couple of takeaways: one, it’s not just technology or IT-related businesses, with brewers, heavy electrical equipment and food processing in the mix; and two, the stocks are trading anywhere between CAD $2.20 and $27.56. Would you consider adding some Indian exposure to your portfolio? Why or why not?

What is scandium and why is it catching the eye of investors? If you caught Sean Mason’s Canadian Small Cap Market Movers yesterday, you’d have seen that Scandium International Mining Corp. (TSX: SCY) shares rose 31% to $0.105 on Monday after the scandium project developer announced equity financing totaling $2.16 million. To be sure, scandium is one of those commodities that most people have never heard of, but there’s a real investment proposition there. Back in May 2015 The Gold Report had an interview with Ryan Castilloux, founding director and market research analyst with Adamas Intelligence that painted a bullish picture on scandium and the reasons why it’s a buyer’s market at the moment.
