Speculators
were drawn to zinc drill results Wednesday while turning on an oil name
following a dividend cut. Here’s some small stocks making big moves on Wednesday,
August 12, 2015 (as of 4 pm EST):
Canadian Zinc Corporation (TSX:
CZN) shares jumped 21% to $0.115 on Wednesday after the junior explorer announced
drill results from the underground exploration program at the Prairie Creek
Mine in the Northwest Territories, which included 6.92% lead, 11.95% zinc, and 116
g/t silver over 24.5 metres.
As well, shares of Northern Blizzard
Resources Inc. (TSX:
NBZ) slipped 12% to $3.90 as the crude oil production and development
company said it will be slashing its monthly dividend from $0.08 to $0.04 per
common share.
California Nanotechnologies Corp. (TSXV:
CNO), meanwhile, reported that it has received new contracts worth
approximately US$254,000. California Nanotechnologies stock moved up 27% to
$0.07 following the announcement.
