Potash Junior Powers Higher on Swiss Investment

A European fund manager found a potash play appetizing Wednesday, while Robert Friedland’s name piqued the interest of more than a few speculators. Here’s some small stocks making big moves on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 (as of 4 pm EST):

PRK logoPotash Ridge Corporation (TSX: PRK) shares climbed 9% to $0.19 on Wednesday after the pending sulphate of potash producer announced that it has reached an agreement with NHP Asset Management AG of Zurich Switzerland, where NHP and its associates have committed to invest $1 million into Potash Ridge by way of private placement at a price of $0.15 per unit.

As well, shares of Blackbird Energy Inc. (TSXV: BBI) rose 13% to $0.175 as the oil and gas explorer/developer said it has executed a Letter of Intent with a third party for the transportation and processing of sour natural gas produced from its Elmworth project in Alberta.

Cordoba Minerals Corp. (TSXV: CDB), meanwhile, reported that High Power Exploration Inc. (HPX), a private mineral exploration company indirectly controlled by mining entrepreneur Robert Friedland, has entered Phase One of the Joint Venture Agreement whereby HPX can earn a 25% interest in the San Matias Project in Colombia by spending an additional C$6 million. Cordoba Minerals stock popped 27% to $0.62 following the announcement.

Finally, Avalon Advanced Materials Inc. (TSX: AVL) shares jumped 44% to $0.23 after the mineral development company announced that pilot processing of a bulk sample of the ore at its Separation Rapids Lithium Project in Kenora, Ontario, has successfully produced one tonne of high purity lithium mineral concentrate (petalite) that meets target specifications.
