South American drill results sparked shares of a junior explorer Wednesday. Here’s some small stocks making big moves on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 (as of 4 pm EST):

Atico Mining Corporation (TSXV:ATY) shares jumped 26% to $0.54 on Wednesday after the junior explorer announced drill results from its 10,000 meter drilling program on the La Plata property in Ecuador, which included 6.8 meters of 19.5 grams per tonne (g/t) gold, 224 g/t silver and 12.2% copper.

As well, shares of SunOpta Inc. (TSX:SOY) fell 9% to $8.73 even as the provider of plant-based foods and beverages released second-quarter financial results that beat expectations with a 6.1% year-over-year increase in revenue to $310.9 million.

Stroud Resources Ltd. (TSXV:SDR), meanwhile, revealed that Eric Sprott owns and controls approximately 47% of the issued and outstanding shares of Stroud on a non-diluted basis. Stroud Resources stock moved up 29% to $0.78 following the announcement.

Finally, Aurelius Minerals Inc. (TSXV:AUL) shares gained 28% to $0.115 after the gold explorer announced assay results from the first of 18 previously drilled and unsampled holes from 2009 and 2010 drilling on its recently-acquired Aureus West property in Nova Scotia, which included 65.2 g/t gold over 2.1 metres.
