An oil patch
deal was one of the few bright spots in a beaten-down sector Friday. Here’s
some small stocks making big moves on Friday, December 4, 2015 (as of 4 pm EST):
Canamax Energy Ltd. (TSXV:
CAC) shares surged 91% to $0.64 on Friday after the Montney oil focused
junior oil and gas company announced that it has entered into a definitive
arrangement agreement whereby a group that includes Edge Natural Resources LLC
and Canamax’s senior management will acquire all of the issued and outstanding
common shares of Canamax at a price of $0.67 per share, or a total
consideration of approximately $82 million.
As well,
shares of Bankers Petroleum Ltd. (TSX:
BNK) continued to slide, down 10% to $1.11, as the oil and gas
producer/explorer’s tax dispute with Albania’s government has escalated, with Bankers
Petroleum now threatening to cut production, according to an Associated
Press report.
EXO U Inc. (TSXV:
EXO), meanwhile, reported that it has entered into a reseller agreement with
a division of Panasonic Corporation of North America, in which EXO U’s platform
will unify Panasonic’s interactive educational technology by enabling students,
teachers and administrators to learn, communicate, share and create digital
content for use on many devices at once. The company will provide
non-exclusive, worldwide licensing of its software to Panasonic for one year,
renewing on an annual basis thereafter. EXO
U stock popped 77% to $0.275 following the announcement.
Finally, Electrovaya Inc. (TSX:
EFL) shares rose 7% to $0.77 after the manufacturer of proprietary
Lithium Ion Super Polymer batteries, battery systems, and battery-related
products announced that it and its wholly-owned subsidiary, Litarion GmbH, have
introduced a new thinner, flexible ceramic separator SEPARION P20 for
utility-scale and electric vehicle applications, which the Company claims
offers superior temperature stability and vastly improved cycle life for lithium
ion batteries.
