An update from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration was sweet medicine for investors in a biopharma stock Wednesday. Here’s some small stocks making big moves on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 (as of 4 pm EST):
Aeterna Zentaris Inc. (TSX: AEZS), a biopharma stock, surged 126% to $2.94 on Wednesday after announcing that it has been notified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that its New Drug Application seeking approval of Macrilen for the evaluation of growth hormone deficiency in adults has been accepted as a complete response to the FDA’s November 5, 2014 Complete Response Letter and granted a PDUFA date of December 30, 2017.
As well, shares of Wavefront Technology Solutions Inc. (TSXV: WEE) climbed 29% to $0.155 as the provider of fluid injection technology for oil and gas well stimulation and Improved/Enhanced oil recovery said its strategic marketing partner Gulf Drilling and Maintenance Company believes that Wavefront’s Powerwave will shortly become the reservoir stimulation method of choice in Kuwait.
Ashburton Ventures Inc. (TSXV: ABR), meanwhile, reported that BC Bud Depot’s Research and Development facility on Salt Spring Island has placed an initial 20-ton zeolite order based on what the Company called the “encouraging results” of an ongoing study into the effects of Ashburton’s Z-1 Zeolite and ZMM T-Carbon on cannabis growth and productivity. Ashburton Ventures stock moved up as much as 13% before ending unchanged at $0.155.
Finally, Osisko Mining Inc. (TSX: OSK) shares rose 7% to $4.31 after the gold junior announced new results from the ongoing drill program at its 100% owned Windfall Lake gold project in Québec, which included 24.9 g/t gold over 31.0 metres.
