Healthy revenue/earnings growth lifted a medical play Wednesday, while a potential sale pumped up an oilfield services stock. Here’s some small stocks making big moves on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 (as of 4 pm EST):
Nobilis Health Corp. (TSX: NHC) shares surged 12% to $3.82 on Wednesday after the surgical hospitals owner/manager announced that its third-quarter revenue increased 205% to $52.5 million, while its net income for the period soared to $10.9 million from $1.2 million during the same quarter last year.
As well, shares of Trican Well Service Ltd. (TSX: TCW) jumped 27% to $0.50 as the energy services firm said it is in negotiations with U.S. based well completion services company Keane Group for the sale of Trican’s United States pressure pumping business.
Northair Silver Corp. (TSXV: INM), meanwhile, reported that it has agreed to be acquired by Kootenay Silver Inc. (TSXV: KTN). Under the terms of the agreement, Northair shareholders will receive, for each common share of Northair held, 0.35 common shares of Kootenay, plus 0.15 of a warrant to purchase Kootenay common shares at an exercise price of $0.55 for a period of five years from closing. Northair Silver stock moved up 22% to $0.055 following the announcement.
Finally, Sanatana Resources Inc. (TSXV: STA) shares rose as much as 50% before ending unchanged at $0.01 on volume of more than 10.7 million shares after the gold explorer announced that it has agreed to divest its 50% interest in the Watershed Property in northern Ontario for total cash consideration of up to C$5 million.
