Centurion Minerals Ltd. (TSXV:CTN) is a Canadian-based company with an international focus on the exploration and development of agricultural gypsum. The company executed a Joint Venture Agreement with Demetra Minerals (DEM), a private Canadian company, to develop the Ana Sofia Agricultural Gypsum Project in Santiago del Estero, Argentina. The Project comprises two mining concessions with exploration rights totalling 500 hectares. All permits for exploration as well as, extraction, environmental and export have been secured.
Agricultural gypsum works as a soil amendment, conditioner and fertilizer to improve the soil, thus building more productive soil naturally. Gypsum agricultural products provide sulfur and calcium to make healthier soil for crops. According to data collected by the World Bank, the current population growth rate is about 1.2%, or 80 million people per year. With more individuals to feed, farmers need to increase their yields in order to satisfy demand.
Currently, Centurion has 1.47 million tonnes of initial inferred resources that show an average grade of 94% gypsum. With 40,000 tonnes per year in agri-material orders in place, it is on the right track to meet the high demand of agri-gypsum fertilizers in South America.
