Small
cap stocks making big moves on Friday, April 11, 2014 (as of 4 pm EST)
Zygo Corporation (NASDAQ: ZIGO)
shares jumped 32% to $19.43 on volume of more than 2.1 million shares Friday as
the supplier of optical metrology instruments said it has agreed to be acquired
by AMETEK, Inc. (NYSE: AME)
for $19.25 per share in cash, or a total enterprise value of approximately $280
million.
As well,
shares of Datawatch Corporation (NASDAQ: DWCH)
slid 29% to $14.67 on more than 2.4 million shares traded after the provider of
visual data discovery solutions announced that it is “disappointed” in its
14%-17% year over year revenue growth performance for its second fiscal quarter
this year, which fell short of company expectations.
Wireless
communications developer xG Technology,
Inc. (NASDAQ:
XGTI), meanwhile, said it has entered into a funded product testing
agreement with Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon in Monterey, Mexico. xG
Technology stock moved up as much as 11% on the news.
Finally,
NQ Mobile Inc. (NYSE: NQ)
shares slipped 21% to $12.70 as the provider of mobile Internet services
reported fourth-quarter net income of 22 cents a share, missing Wall Street
expectation by 10 cents. Revenue for the period, though, soared 126.1% year
over year to a better-than-expected $67.9 million.
