Wave Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: WAVX) Shares Soar on Micron Technology Deal: U.S. Daily Market Movers

Wave Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: WAVX)
shares surged 39% to $1.40 on volume of more than 22.4 million shares Tuesday
after the provider of endpoint security said it is expanding its relationship
with Micron Technology, Inc. (NYSE: MU)
to develop solutions designed to strengthen user protection against current and
emerging threats to compute and embedded platforms. Both companies added that
they are targeting the second half of 2014 for future announcements regarding
products in development. 

As
well, shares of FX Energy, Inc. (NASDAQ: FXEN)
jumped 19% to $3.86 on more than 2.6 million shares traded as the independent
oil and gas exploration and production company reported that the Tuchola-4K
well in Poland has reached its primary objective, the lower Zechstein Ca1
formation at 2,740 meters, approximately 60 meters high to last year’s
Tuchola-3K well. The company added that logs and cores both show very good
porosity.

Highpower
International, Inc.
 (NASDAQ: HPJ),
meanwhile, announced that its subsidiary, Huizhou Highpower, has officially become
a supplier to SONY and has begun receiving orders and shipping
products. The initial orders for Highpower’s lithium polymer batteries
will be used for SONY’s wireless products. Highpower is a manufacturer of
lithium and nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries. Highpower
International stock moved up 13% to $4.75 on the news.

Finally,
shares of Tekmira Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: TKMR) slid
14% to $12.75 following reports that Novartis (NYSE: NVS) is
closing a significant portion of its RNAi research endeavors in Boston.
