USEC Inc. (NYSE: USU)
shares powered 35% higher to $6.15 on volume of more than 8.1 million shares
Thursday as the supplier of enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power
plants reported that its second-quarter net loss narrowed to $28.0 million from
$40.9 million a year earlier.
As well,
shares of Noodles & Company (NASDAQ: NDLS)
slid 16% to $21.16 on more than 5.4 million traded after the restaurant chain
that serves noodle and pasta dishes from around the world announced
weaker-than-expected Q2 earnings and cut its full year profit and same store
sales expectations.
Interphase Corporation (NASDAQ: INPH),
meanwhile, said it has entered into a $3.3 million non-brokered private
placement with Hodges Small Cap Fund at a price of $2.45 per share. Interphase is
a diversified information and communications technology company. Interphase
stock popped 46% to $3.21 following the announcement.
Finally,
Goldfield Corporation (NYSE MKT: GV) shares
shot up 16% to $1.79 as the provider of electrical construction and maintenance
services in the energy infrastructure industry reported that its total
multi-year Master Service Agreements backlog grew five-fold to approximately
$190 million as of June 30, 2014.
