Small
stocks making big moves on Thursday, November 6, 2014 (as of 4 pm EST), as

DATA Group Ltd. (TSX:
DGI) shares powered 8% higher to $0.52 on Thursday after the managed
business communications services firm announced that its Q3 revenue rose 5.4%
to $78.1 million, while swinging to $1.8 million profit for the period
from a $20.2 million net loss.
As well,
shares of Aeterna Zentaris Inc. (TSX: AEZ)
plunged 49% to $0.74 as the specialty biopharmaceutical company said it has
received a Complete Response Letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for
its New Drug Application for Macrilen, which is used for evaluating adult
growth hormone deficiency. The letter mentioned that the planned analysis of
the company’s pivotal trial did not meet its stated primary efficacy objective
as agreed to in the Special Protocol Assessment agreement letter between the company
and the FDA.
Sierra Wireless, Inc. (TSX: SW),
meanwhile, reported record third quarter revenue of $143.3 million, up 28% from
the same period last year, while its non-GAAP earnings per share surged to
$0.24 from $0.11. Sierra Wireless stock popped 27% to $38.43 following the
announcement.
Finally, DiaMedica
Inc. (TSXV: DMA)
shares shot up 81% to $0.39 as the clinical stage biopharmaceutical company announced
that it has cancelled its previously announced public offering for the issuance
of up to 24 million units at a price of $0.25 per unit, due to the fact that
its Phase II clinical trial of DM199 in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
was recently completed and it now expects to receive the results of the study
from the clinical research organization in mid-November.
