Medical Action Industries Inc. (NASDAQ: MDCI)
shares powered 94% higher to
$13.68 on volume of more than 9.8 million shares Wednesday after the producer
of custom procedure trays and minor procedure kits said it has agreed to be
acquired by Owens
& Minor, Inc. (NYSE: OMI)
for $13.80 per share in cash, or a total consideration of approximately
$208 million, including assumed debt, net of cash.
As well,
shares of Actinium Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
(NYSE
MKT: ATNM) slid 19% to $7.09 as the biopharmaceutical company announced the
pricing of its previously announced public offering of 1,670,000 shares of its
common stock at a price to the public of $7.50 per share.
Aerie Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: AERI),
meanwhile, reported positive Phase 2b trial results for its once-daily
Roclatan, used for treating glaucoma patients. Aerie stock popped 28% to $26.98 following the announcement.
Finally,
PowerSecure International, Inc. (NASDAQ: POWR)
shares shot up 22% to $9.60 after the utility and energy technologies provider
said it has successfully modified the service arrangement with one of its major
utility customers to improve the terms of its ongoing service. PowerSecure
added that it believes these changes will restore the profitability of the work
provided to this utility.
