Small cap stocks making big moves on

ITT Educational Services Inc. (NYSE: ESI)
shares surged 65% to $9.19 on Friday after the for-profit school announced
that it enrolled more students than initially expected in the second quarter.
The educational service company said that new student enrollment fell 8.1% in
the quarter ending June 30, beating the original estimates of a slightly higher
10-15% decline.
As well,
shares of Westmoreland Coal Co. (NASDAQ: WLB)
jumped 21% to $36.97 as the coal company said it has entered into a definitive
contribution agreement with Oxford Resource Partners and a purchase agreement
with AIM Oxford Holdings. Through its contribution agreement, Westmore has
intended to offer Oxford certain fee simples in coal reserves.
Repros Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: RPRX)
stock, on the other hand, took a dip 40% to $6.31 after the pharmaceutical
company was told by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that there wasn’t
sufficient information on the table to hold a planned pre-investigational new
drug application meeting in November.
Lastly,
shares of Alpha Pro Tech Ltd. (NASDAQ: ATEN), a company specializing is disposable
protective garments, slid as much as 21% on Friday following a 127% gain in the
past week. The company is riding the rough wave of other Ebola related stocks,
which surged earlier in the week due to an increase in confirmed Ebola cases in
the U.S.
