China BAK Battery, Inc. (NASDAQ: CBAK)
stock continued to march higher Thursday, climbing 14% to $4.05 on volume of
more than 4.5 million shares. On Wednesday, shares of the lithium-based battery
cells manufacturer shot up 42% following a Wall
Street Journal report that South Korea’s LG Chem is planning to
invest hundreds of millions of dollars to build an electric car factory in
China.
As well,
shares of Regado Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: RGDO)
plunged 58% to $2.81 on more than 6.4 million shares traded as the
biopharmaceutical company said it was forced to suspend the trial of its heart
drug, Revolixys Kit, pending a review of potential safety problems.
Verso Paper Corp. (NYSE: VRS),
meanwhile, reported that it has commenced debt exchange offers. Verso Paper
stock moved up 20% to $2.75 following the announcement.
Finally,
NQ Mobile Inc. (NYSE: NQ)
shares sank 32% to $4.58 after the provider of mobile Internet services
announced that its auditor PwC said “it would need to perform additional
procedures and expand the scope of its 2013 audit work.”
