Rockwell Medical, Inc. (NASDAQ: RMTI) Shares Surge on Baxter Deal: U.S. Daily Market Movers

Rockwell Medical, Inc. (NASDAQ: RMTI)
shares jumped 16% to $10.63 on volume of more than 3.1 million shares Friday as
the biopharmaceutical company targeting end-stage renal disease and chronic
kidney disease said it has signed an exclusive agreement with Baxter Healthcare
Corporation to commercialize Rockwell’s hemodialysis concentrate product line
in the U.S. and in select overseas markets.

As well,
shares of Cliffs Natural Resources Inc.
(NYSE: CLF)
slid 17% to $8.32 on more than 33.1 million shares traded after the miner’s stock
was downgraded to “reduce” from “buy” by RBC Capital
Markets on Friday.

Apco Oil and Gas International Inc. (NASDAQ: APAGF),
meanwhile, announced that it has agreed to be acquired by privately-held
Pluspetrol Resources Corporation for $14.50 per share in cash, or a total consideration
of approximately $427 million. Apco stock popped 13% to $14.30 following the
announcement.

Finally,
Applied Genetic Technologies Corporation
(NASDAQ: AGTC)
shares shot up 5% to $19.17 after Stifel Nicolaus initiated coverage of the clinical
stage biotechnology firm’s stock with a “buy” rating and a 12-month target
price of $29.
