Small
cap stocks making big moves on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 (as of 4 pm EST)
Vitacost.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: VITC)
shares shot up 27% to $7.97 on volume of more than 14.1 million shares Wednesday
after the online retailer of healthy living products said it has agreed to be
acquired by supermarket chain The Kroger Co. (NYSE: KR)
for $8.00 per share in cash, or approximately $280 million.
As well,
shares of CalAmp Corp. (NASDAQ: CAMP)
slipped 13% to $19.19 on more than 5.9 million shares traded as the provider of
wireless products and services provided a weaker-than-expected second-quarter
revenue and earnings outlook.
Zogenix, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZGNX),
meanwhile, announced that it expects to file a supplemental new drug
application by October 2014 for a next-generation formulation of Zohydro ER
Extended-Release Capsules, for pain management, designed to make it more difficult
to abuse by injection or nasal administration. Zogenix stock popped 19% to
$2.36 following the announcement.
Finally,
Shutterfly, Inc. (NASDAQ: SFLY)
shares climbed 15% to $50 after the online photo-printing service reported
has it put itself up for sale and hired investment bank Qatalyst Partners to
find a buyer.
