Zalicus Inc. (NASDAQ: ZLCS) Shares Surge on Study Results: U.S. Daily Market Movers

Zalicus Inc. (NASDAQ: ZLCS)
shares jumped 40% to $1.51 on volume of more than 13.3 million shares Thursday after
Epirus Switzerland announced clinical data from a Phase 3 study of BOW015,
a biosimilar infliximab, in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis, which met
the previously specified statistical endpoint. On April 15, Epirus announced
that it plans to merge with a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zalicus in an
all-stock transaction.

As well,
shares of Wave Systems Corp. (NASDAQ: WAVX)
slid 22% to $1.67 on more than 4.7 million shares traded as the provider of
data protection said it is selling to investors 5,225,560 shares of its common
stock at a price of $1.90 per share. 

Geron Corp. (NASDAQ: GERN),
meanwhile, reported that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) removed a
partial hold on a clinical trial for its drug to treat a rare form of leukemia.
Geron stock popped 21% to $3.15.

Finally,
Sigma Designs (NASDAQ: SIGM)
shares climbed 11% to $4.49 after the intelligent media platforms provider beat analysts’ estimates
for earnings in its first quarter. Its stock was also upgraded from to
“buy” from “hold” at Needham & Company, which set
a price target of $5.50 a share.
