Several of the North American equity indices marked their all-time highs last week as investors welcomed new stimulus measures from the European Central Bank, encouraging data on the U.S. labor market and improved U.S. manufacturing and services sectors. The small-cap Russell 2000 Index registered biggest gains for the week and entered into the positive territory for the year. Last week, the central bank of Canada also announced to keep its key interest rate unchanged at 1%, but highlighted concern about the downside risks to inflation.
Today we have highlighted 11 stocks across sectors that are hovering around their 52-week highs and have registered an increase of over 100% in daily average trading volumes during the past five days compared with the past one month daily average trading volumes, indicating a strong market interest. Moreover, these stocks outperformed their respective equity indices and sector indices last week registering significant gains and touched their new 52-week highs during the week. The shortlisted stocks recorded price gains ranging from 5% to 32% with daily average traded volume in excess of 100,000.
