Manufacturing Stock Surges on Contract News: Today’s Canadian Small Cap Market Movers

stocks making big moves on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 (as of 4 pm EST), as

Empire Industries Ltd. (TSXV:
EIL
) shares powered 33% higher to $0.14 on volume of more than 3.6 million
shares Tuesday after the manufacturer of specialized engineered products
announced that its wholly-owned division, Dynamic Structures, will
benefit from Canada’s commitment to construction funding of $243.5 million for
the Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) international partnership. TMT will be the
world’s most powerful ground-based telescope, with 81 times more power than the
current best telescope.

As well,
shares of AnalytixInsight Inc. (TSXV:
ALY
) rose 6% to $0.35 as the big data analytics company said it has signed
a strategic partnership with the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, which will enable
Israel’s stock exchange to license and carry ALY’s CapitalCube content.  

Castle Mountain Mining Company Limited (TSXV: CMM), meanwhile, reported that former Rubicon
Minerals Chief Executive David Adamson will join the company as its new
CEO. Castle Mountain Mining stock popped 37% to $0.41 following the announcement.

Finally, Ballard Power Systems (TSX:
BLD
) shares jumped 8% to $2.91 after the clean energy products provider
announced that the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell powered fixed rail electric
tram was successfully demonstrated at a ceremonial event held in March at the
head office, production and testing facility of CSR Qingdao Sifang Company in
China.
