Probe Mines Limited (TSXV: PRB)
shares surged 51% to $5.06 on volume of more than 2.6 million shares Monday
after the gold project developer said it has agreed to be acquired by Goldcorp
Inc. in an all-stock transaction valued at C$526 million. Under the terms of
the agreement, Probe Mines shareholders will receive 0.1755 common shares of
Goldcorp for each Probe share held. In addition, shareholders of Probe will
receive an interest in a new exploration company (New Probe) containing Probe’s
mineral properties in the Ring of Fire in northern Ontario, as well as C$15
million in cash and certain other assets currently owned by Probe.
As well,
shares of NovX21 Inc. (TSXV: NOV)
slipped 12% to $0.075 as the operator of an industrial prototype plant for the
recovery of Platinum Group Metals confirmed that it is in discussions with
the Québec government to finance the construction of a commercial extraction
plant for platinum-group precious metals in Thetford Mines.
Brand Marvel Worldwide Consumer Products Corporation (TSXV: BMW),
meanwhile, reported that it has completed the first tranche of a
private placement in which it received gross proceeds of C$4,758,017
at a price of $0.05 per common share from four subscribers and another C$1,464,005 from
its newly-appointed director, Mr. Yan Jun Sun.
