Key Findings for the week:
• Solvista Gold Corp (TSXV: SVV) was the top gainer for the week with
54.55% gain. The price soared on the news (published on December 18, 2013)
that IAMGOLD Corporation is to invest approximately $36 million to earn
70% interest in SVV’s Caramanta project, located in Colombia’s Mid-Cauca
Belt.
• After gaining 4.87% last week, the UG 50 index increased further by
1.95% to close at 71.09. The UG index outperformed Gold (0.93%) but underperformed
TSXV (2.31%) and S&P/TSX global gold index (3.18%). The index gained
on the back of rising gold prices and the resultant positive effect on
gold companies.
• The performance of the UG 50 constituent companies was mixed with 24
out of 48 companies managing positive performance for the week.
